Between Heaven and Earth is the dance concert being presented March 17-19 in Anderson Theater by the Gustavus Department of Theater and Dance. The concert will feature a diverse set of choreography including that of Dr. Kemal Nance, and works from student and faculty choreographers. Tickets are on sale now.

Gustavus Dance Selected for Festival Dance Finale

The dance Shiny Things for the Mind, choreographed by Gustavus Visiting Instructor in Dance Cynthia Gutierrez-Garner and danced by nine Gustavus students, earned the finale spot in the recent American College Dance Festival Association's North Central Regional Festival Gala performance. The conference, held at the University of Minnesota, was attended by twenty-three colleges and universities from the Midwest to California. In all, over 400 dancers participated in the 34 dances which were adjudicated.

The Rhythm of Dance and the Visual Arts

The adage of "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" will be put to the test on April 5 and 7 at the Hillstrom Museum of Art at Gustavus as student choreographers and dancers from the Department of Theatre/Dance perform a visual analysis of works currently on display in the Museum. These performances are open to the public and begin at 3:30 p.m. on April 5 and 5:30 p.m., April 7.

A Colorful Palette of Dance in Range of Motion, the Spring Dance Concert at Gustavus Adolphus College

The Gustavus Department of Theatre and Dance is pleased to present the 2009 Spring Dance Concert, Range of Motion. The Gustavus Dance Company will perform a diverse assortment of works by Gustavus Faculty members and Guest Artist Charlotte Adams, professor at the University of Iowa. Performances will be held in Anderson Theatre March 13-14 at 8 pm and March 15 at 2 pm.

Gustavus Presents Spring Dance Concert

The Gustavus Department of Theater and Dance presents the spring performance of the Gustavus Dance Company (GDC). This year's concert entitled Old/New, Fast/Slow, Movement/Stillness, combines a dynamic compilation of works choreographed and performed by Gustavus dance faculty and students as well as several prominent guest artists. Performances will be held in the Anderson Theater, April 11 and 12 at 8:00p.m. and April 13 at 2:00p.m.

In a show of athleticism, striking imagery, and surprising humor, the concert is a celebration of the art of dance that is not to be missed.
