The Gustavus Chamber Singers and the Adolphus Jazz Ensemble combine efforts Sunday, April 19, for a joint concert in Bjorling Recital Hall on the Gustavus campus. The performance begins in Bjorling Recital Hall at 7:30 p.m.
Following a 10-day concert tour through the Midwest and an appearance at the Eau Claire Jazz Festival, the Gustavus Adolphus College Jazz Lab Band returns to Gustavus to play a home concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 18 at Jussi Björling Recital Hall.
The Gustavus Jazz Lab Band, under the direction of Steve Wright, placed second behind St. Paul's McNally Smith School of Music in the college and university big band division at the Eau Claire Jazz Festival, Friday, April 3. Also participating in the adjudicated festival were jazz bands from Iowa State, St. Olaf, Hamline, North Central, and UW jazz bands from Whitewater, Platteville and Superior.
Two senior recitals set the stage for music at Gustavus this weekend as Erik Mahon, trumpet and Susan Engberg, piano present solo recitals in Björling Recital Hall. Mahon, a native of Littleton, Colorado, is accompanied by pianist Beth Winterfeldt at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, March 14. Engberg follows at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 15. Both performances are free and open to the public.
The jazz ensembles from the Department of Music at Gustavus Adolphus College combine efforts on Saturday, November 22, to present a concert in Bjorling Recital Hall on the Gustavus campus. Under the direction of guest director Adam Rossmiller, the Adolphus Jazz Ensemble and the Gustavus Jazz Lab Band begin this free concert at 7:30 p.m.
The Adolphus Jazz Ensemble of the Department of Music at Gustavus features the A Jazz Quartet in it spring concert Friday, May 2. The concert, directed by Steve Wright, begins at 7:30 p.m. in Jussi Bjorling Recital Hall. It is free and open to the public.
The Department of Music at Gustavus is pleased to present the Mike Vax Big Band (featuring alumni from the Stan Kenton Orchestra) in concert at Jussi Bjorling Recital Hall on the Gustavus Adolphus College campus, Thursday, May 1 at 7:30 p.m. This concert is the final event in an afternoon of clinics and demonstrations scheduled in Schaefer Fine Arts Center. This is the first performance by the jazz lab band on the campus following the release of their newest cd, Taking Off, earlier this fall. This performance is free and open to the public.

The day of music includes the Flute Choir, Woodwind Ensembles, the Adolphus Jazz Ensemble, Chambers Singers, St. Ansgar's Chorus and the Birgitta Singers. All three performances are free and open to the public.
