Stephen Bomgardner Presents Faculty Recital at Gustaus Posted on February 25th, 2005 by

Gustavus Adolphus College Department of Music Adjunct Professor Stephen Bomgardner will present a faculty recital on Saturday, March 5, beginning at 7:30 p.m. in the College’s Bjorling Recital Hall. He is accompanied by pianist Jennifer McDonald and assisted by Mezzo Soprano Ingerid Kvam in this free recital.

Bomgardner, a tenor, is in his third year teaching voice at Gustavus and is an Associate Professor of Music at Minnesota State University, Mankato. He will open this performance with three works by Roger Quilter set to texts by Edmund Waller and William Shakespeare. He continues with OUTSIDE THIS HOUSE THE WORLD HAS CHANGED by Samuel Barber and TWO SONGS, composed by Modest Mussorgsky. He completes the first set of the recital with THREE COMIC SONGS from MORIKE-LIEDERBUCH, written by Hugo Wolf.

Following in intermission, Bomgarner returns to the stage to present the CANTICLE II “ABRAHAM AND ISAAC”, OP. 51 by Benjamin Britten.

Saturday’s recital is free and open to the public. A reception for the performers will take place in the recital hall lobby.
