Chad Winterfeldt, assistant organist at Christ Chapel on the Gustavus Adolphus College campus will present a faculty recital Saturday, October 28, beginning at 7:30 p.m. This performance, rescheduled from September following the birth of his daughter, will be presented in Christ Chapel. It is free and open to the public and includes works by Buxtehude, Mendelssohn, Decker, Bolcom and Franck.
In addition to his work as assistant organist and director of handbells at Christ Chapel, Chad Winterfeldt is the director of music and organist at First Lutheran Church in St. Peter. He earned his bachelor’s in music at Concordia College in Moorhead and his master’s at Yale before completing his doctorate in organ performance at the University of Nebraska where he studied with George Ritchie and Quentin Faulkner.
For this performance, Winterfeldt will open with the Sonata No. 2, opus 65 by Felix Mendelssohn and Wie schon leuchtet der Morgenstern by Dietrich Buxtehude. He continues with Kairos, a work by contemporary American composer Pamela Decker, the subject of his doctoral dissertation at Nebraska and concludes the recital with Cesar Franck’s Choral N. 2 in B minor and Free Fantasia by William Bolcom.
Saturday’s recital in Christ Chapel is free and open to the public.
