The Music Department at Gustavus Adolphus College has named 2004 Owatonna High Shool graduate Andrew Jensen as the 2007 – 2008 recipient of the Presser Scholarship. This award, presented annually, is presented to a senior in the department and is based on musicianship, scholarship and contribution to the department. Mr. Jensen is a senior with a major in music education. Following graduation, he intends to pursue a career in music education. He is the son of Mary and Terry Jensen of Owatonna and a member of the Gustavus Wind Orchestra, the Gustavus Symphony Orchestra and the college’s percussion ensemble.

As the name implies, this scholarship is made available to the Department through the kind support of the Presser Foundation of Bryn Mawr. The Presser Scholarship is awarded by the music faculty to a rising senior music major for a period of two consecutive semesters. The criteria for the award are musicianship, scholarship, and contribution to the department. Nominations are placed and the final selection made by members of the faculty in the Department of Music.
