Paul and Helen Baumgartner, faculty emeriti of the Department of Music at Gustavus Adolphus College, will present a piano four-hand recital in Jussi Bjorling Recital Hall, Friday, February 29. The Baumgartner recital will begin at 7:30 p.m. and is free and open to the public.

Friday’s recital opens with the three-movement Little Suite by D. Donald Cervone, followed by Hermann Goetz’s Sonata in g minor, Op. 17. Following a brief intermission, the Baumgartners will return to the stage to perform Ludwig van Beethoven’s Variations on a Theme of Count von Waldstein. The performance concludes with Norwegian Dances, Op. 35 by Edvard Grieg.

The Baumgartners are long-time professors of music at Gustavus Adolphus College. They have traveled extensively and have presented concerts throughout the United States and Japan. Although they have retired from the department of music, they continue to teach privately and present piano duets and as a duo-piano team.

Friday’s concert is free and open to the public. A reception for the recitalists follows the performance.
