Simpkins Senior Trombone Recital Re-Scheduled

The Department of Music at Gustavus Adolphus College is pleased to present a senior bass trombone recital by Scott Simpkins, Sunday, April 11 at 3:30 p.m. Simpkins is accompanied by pianist Brenda Moore and the members of the Christ Chapel Brass in this recital presented in Björling Recital Hall.

(This senior recital has been re-scheduled to Sunday, May 9 at 7:00 p.m.)

The Department of Music at Gustavus Adolphus College is pleased to present a senior bass trombone recital by Scott Simpkins, Sunday, April 11 at 3:30 p.m. Simpkins will be accompanied by pianist Brenda Moore and the members of the Christ Chapel Brass in this recital presented in Björling Recital Hall. The performance is free and open to the public.

Scott Simpkins is a 2006 graduate of Ames (Iowa) High School and holds majors in biochemistry and chemistry and a minor in music. He is a member of the Gustavus Jazz Lab Band, the Gustavus Wind Orchestra, the Trombone Choir and the Christ Chapel Brass. He studies with Scott Moore.

For his senior recital, Scott will open with the four-movement Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen by Gustav Mahler. He will continue with Eric Culver’s Suite for Unaccompanied Bass Trombone and the Sonata for Bass Trombone by Alec Wilder. The members of the Christ Chapel Brass then join him on the stage to conclude Sunday’s recital with Victor Ewald’s Quintet No. 2 and Bright Size Life by Pat Metheny.

This senior bass trombone recital by Scott Simpkins is free and open to the public and begins at 3:30 p.m. A reception follows the performance.
