Choir of Christ Chapel Home Concert Friday

Following a 4-day concert tour which included performances in Sun City West, Phoenix, and Tucson, the Choir of Christ Chapel and Conductor Patricia Kazarow, return to the campus for its home concert on Friday, April 23 at 7:30 p.m. in Christ Chapel.

Gustavus Oratorio Festival Set for Tuesday

The Gustavus Oratorio Festival, sponsored by the Department of Music at Gustavus Adolphus College, brings high schools choirs from around the region to campus. The Festival provides an opportunity to study choral music at the college level and to participate in the Festival Concert, presenting choral masterworks with a full symphonic orchestra. The 2010 Gustavus Oratorio Festival is Tuesday, April 20. The Festival Concert begins at 7:00 p.m. in Christ Chapel.

The Arabian Nights: Funny, Erotic, Enchanting, presented by Gustavus Adolphus College, Uncovering the Power of Storytelling

The Department of Theatre and Dance at Gustavus Adolphus College is pleased to present a compelling performance of The Arabian Nights, a play by Mary Zimmerman. Directed by Henry MacCarthy, performances of this production will be held April 22, 23, and 24 at 8:00 p.m. with a matinee performance on April 25 at 2:00 p.m.

Sunday Recitals Feature Piano, Voice, Trombone & Flute

Sunday, April 18, represents another busy day in the Department of Music at Gustavus Adolphus College with three student recitals scheduled on the St. Peter, Minnesota, campus.

Trombone, Horn and Tuba Recitals Saturday

The Department of Music at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota, will present two senior recitals Saturday, April 17. Trombonist Tom Oelfke opens the afternoon schedule at 1:30 with pianist Brenda Moore. Kelsey Jentink, horn and Tom Liska, tuba, follow at 3:30 p.m. with pianists Brenda Moore and Beth Winterfeldt. The performances are free and open to the public.

Prichard & Burnside Open Recital Weekend Friday

The Department of Music at Gustavus Adolphus College hosts six student recitals this weekend in Jussi Björling Recital Hall. Opening the weekend on Friday, April 16 at 7:30 p.m., are juniors Sean Prichard, percussion & piano and Logan Burnside, alto & tenor saxophone. This recital is free and open to the public.

Sweden’s Luleå Youth Chamber Orchestra Performs at Gustavus

The Luleå Youth Chamber Orchestra of Luleå, Sweden, performed in Christ Chapel during Morning Worship, Wednesday, April 8, as part of its concert tour of the upper Midwest. Directed by Monika Jonasson, the chamber orchestra presented Stefan Nilsson's Gabriella's Song and Jean Sibelius' Andante Festivo.

Gustavus Symphony Returns for Home Concert in Christ Chapel

The Gustavus Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of interim conductor Gregory Aune, has returned from its annual spring concert tour to present the final "home" concert of the tour in Christ Chapel, Sunday, April 11 at 1:3o p.m. The performance will include selections from the tour program and includes works by Schubert, Faure, Elgar, Greig, and Bernstein.The symphony's home concert is free and open to the public.

Gustavus Jazz Home Concert Saturday

Following a 6-day concert tour on the East Coast and preceding an appearance at the Eau Claire Jazz Festival, the Gustavus Adolphus College Jazz Lab Band returns to Gustavus to play a home concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 10 at Jussi Björling Recital Hall.

Simpkins Senior Trombone Recital Re-Scheduled

The Department of Music at Gustavus Adolphus College is pleased to present a senior bass trombone recital by Scott Simpkins, Sunday, April 11 at 3:30 p.m. Simpkins is accompanied by pianist Brenda Moore and the members of the Christ Chapel Brass in this recital presented in Björling Recital Hall.
