Gustavus Brassworks! Concert Set for Sunday Posted on May 4th, 2010 by

The Department of Music at Gustavus presents its annual Brassworks! concert on Sunday, May 9, beginning at 3:30 p.m. in Björling Recital Hall. This event includes performances by the Gustavus Trombone Choir, the Gustavus Brass Choir, the Horn Quartet, the Gustavus Tuba-Euphonium Ensemble and the Christ Chapel Brass. The concert is free and open to the public.

Sunday’s concert opens with the Trombone Choir, conducted by Scott Moore, performing the Passacaglia in C Major by J. S. Bach. The Brass Choir continues with works by Gabrieli, King, Byrd and a Quinto Maganini arrangement of Shenandoah. The Tuba-Euphonium Ensemble, with conductor Paul Budde, then takes the stage to perform works by Dvorak, Gabrieli and Conner. The concert concludes with the Christ Chapel Brass performance of Quintet No. 2 in E-flat Major, Op. 6 by Vicgtor Ewald.

The Brassworks! concert is free and open to the public. It begins at 3:30 p.m. in Björling Recital Hall.
