Lucia Singers Mothers’ Day Concert Sunday Posted on May 4th, 2010 by

The Lucia Singers under the direction of Patricia Snapp will present its annual Mothers’ Day concert on Sunday, May 9, beginning at 1:30 p.m. in Christ Chapel. The performance is free and open to the public.

Led by Conductor Patricia Snapp and accompanied by pianist Samuel Grace, the 67-voice women’s chorus of the Department of Music at Gustavus Adolphus College will open with selections from Waltzes by Johannes Brahms and Sing to the Lord a Marvelous Song by Eugene Butler. The concert continues with a composition written by Gustavus voice faculty Nicolas Wayne and titled Behold!, written and dedicated to the Lucia Singers.

Sunday’s concert continues with works by Elaine Schram, Michelle Roueche, L. V. Beethoven and Laura Farnell. The Lucia Singers then perform a West African playground song arranged by Felicia A. B. Sandler titled Sansa Kroma accompanied by a percussion quartet from the chorus. The concert concludes with Seasons of Love from the musical Rent by Jonathan Larson and Rhythm of Life from Sweet Charity by Cy Coleman and Dorothy Fields.

The Lucia Singers Mothers’ Day Concert begins at 1:30 p.m. in Christ Chapel. It is free and open to the public.
