Voice, Piano, Horn and Trumpet Recitals Sunday Posted on March 14th, 2011 by

The Department of Music at Gustavus Adolphus College will present two student recitals this weekend which will include vocalist and pianist Devon Marschall, French hornist Brittney Braasch and trumpet Cory Ruegg. Both recitals will be presented on Sunday, March 20 with Marschall’s recital beginning at 1:30 p.m. and the joint recital by Braasch and Ruegg at 7:30 p.m. in Jussi Björling Recital Hall. These performances are free and open to the public.

The Sunday afternoon of recitals in Björling Recital Hall opens with junior Devon Marschall presenting a voice and a piano recital. For her vocal works, she will be accompanied by pianist Samuel Grace. Devon is a music and financial economics major from Prior Lake, Minnesota, and the daughter of Gary and Barbara Marschall. In addition to her other academic studies, Devon studies piano with Yumiko Oshima-Ryan and voice with Molly Clinefelter in the Department of Music.

The joint recital of Brittney Raasch, horn and Cory Ruegg, trumpet, begins at 7:30 p.m. in Björling Recital Hall. Raasch is a 2008 graduate of Appleton East High School in Appleton, Wisconsin and the daughter of Nancy Raasch. Her horn instructor at Gustavus is Matthew Wilson and her accompanist is pianist Brenda Moore. She will be joined by Cory Ruegg and the other members of the Christ Chapel Brass, Matt Martin, trumpet, Chris Gough, trombone and Ben Wolf, bass trombone, for part of the program.

Cory Ruegg, trumpet, is a junior computer science major with a music minor from Eagan, Minnesota. He is a 2008 graduate of Eastview High School and the son of Robin Ruegg and Steven Ruegg of Eagan. For this recital, Cory will perform works on the trumpet and the flugelhorn. His instructor in the Department of Music is Steve Wright and his pianist is Brenda Moore.

Both recitals on Sunday are free and open to the public. The Marschall recital begins at 1:30 p.m. and the Raasch/Ruegg recital at 7:30 p.m. in Jussi Björling Recital Hall.
