Riley Lass Senior Recital in Björling Sunday Posted on May 8th, 2014 by

On Sunday, May 11 at 1:30 p.m. in Bjorling Recital Hall, tenor Riley Lass, an ACS chemistry major from Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, will present his senior voice recital. The public may attend this concert free and there will be refreshments afterwards.

Riley’s performance will contain a wide range of repertoire from different time periods. He will be accompanied by pianist Bonnie Jorgensen. His first three pieces are all composed by Franz Schubert. These works are “Die Forelle,” with lyrics by Christian Friedrich Daniel Schubart, “Du bist die Ruh,” words by Friedrich Rückert, and “Rastlose Liebe,” text by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. After that he will sing “Linden Lea,” music by Ralph Vaughan Williams and words by William Barnes. From there he will proceed to sing “If With All Your Hearts,” from Elijah by Felix Mendelssohn. He will do another song by Ralph Vaughan Williams, “Dirge for Fidele” with words by William Shakespeare, assisted by his wife, soprano Alisson Lass. Next he will perform Edouard Lao’s “Vainement, ma bien-aimée” from Le Roi D’Ys and will continue with “Tchaikovsky (And Other Russians)” from Lady in the Dark, music by Kurt Weill and lyrics by Ira Gershwin. Frank Wildhor’s “This Is the Moment” from Jekyll and Hyde and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s “Papageno, Papagena” from The Magic Flute with lyrics by Emanuel Schikaneder, will follow. His second to last song will be “The Next Ten Minutes” from The Last Five Years by Jason Robert Brown and end the recital with David Baerwald’s “Come What May” from Moulin Rouge.

Riley Lass will present his senior recital on Sunday, May 11, in Bjorling Recital Hall at 1:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served following the recital and the public can attend for free.
