Busy Recital Schedule Continues at Gustavus Posted on April 23rd, 2015 by

G-PinAnother busy weekend of student recitals and end of the semester concerts is set for the Gustavus campus as the Department of Music continues through its busy spring schedule. For the coming weekend, seven student recitals, with performances by nine student recitalists, and one ensemble spring concert will keep the department busy. Two performances are in Christ Chapel and the other six will be presented in Jussi Björling Recital Hall. All events this weekend are free and open to the public.

  • Organist David Lim will open the weekend with his senior recital in Christ Chapel on Friday, April 24. David’s recital will begin at 7:30 p.m.
  • Senior soprano Jessie Erickson will present her senior voice recital in Björling Recital Hall on Saturday, April 25 at 11:00 a.m.
  • Katie Landreville, bassoon, will present her senior recital in Björling Recital Hall on Saturday, April 25 at 1:30 p.m. For this performance, Ms. Landreville will be accompanied by pianist Ben Marti and assisted by the members of the High Five Woodwind Quintet and the Gustavus Bassoon Quartet.
  • Violinist Kendra Frey and percussionist Matt Broschard will present their junior recital in Björling Recital Hall beginning at 3:30 p.m. on April 25. They will be accompanied by pianist Ruth Lin and assisted by percussionist Bryan Voigt for this recital.
  • Michael Eastwood, double bass, will present his senior recital at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 25 in Björling Recital Hall. Michael will be accompanies by pianist Szu-ling Wu and assisted by Katie Feterl, marimba and Anthony Afful, oboe.
  • Director Paul Hill will lead the Gustavus Percussion Ensemble through its spring concert on Sunday, April 26, beginning at 1:30 p.m. The members of the percussion ensemble will be joined by guest artist Matt Sorensen for this performance in Jussi Björling Recital Hall.
  • Elizabeth Sherman, trumpet and piano, and Hannah Walters, viola and voice, will present their junior recital on Sunday, April 26 at 3:30 p.m. in Björling Recital Hall. They will be accompanied by Emily Rudquist, piano and Szu-ling Wu, piano, along with assistance by Katelyn Graham, piano, Elizabeth Readel, bass, Nicole McKinney, drums, and trumpets Amie Goblirsch, Ryan Masso and Josh Portner.
  • Organist Tony Ouradnik will conclude the weekend of events with his senior organ recital in Christ Chapel on Sunday, April 26 at 7:30 p.m. Mr. Ouradnik will be assisted in this recital by the members of the Christ Chapel Brass, Katie Feterl, timpani and organist Chad Winterfeldt.

The eight performances that are part of this weekend of recitals and concerts on the Gustavus campus are open to the public. Tickets are not required. Receptions in honor of the performers will follow the recitals.
