Art faculty member Jennifer Nevitt’s solo show at the Minneapolis Institute of Art, “Sans Terre,” was recently featured for its “unmistakeable physicality” in the Star Tribune.
The exhibit, Nevitt’s first at the museum, features paintings and sculptures that show spaces of transition, both physically and psychologically. Using a wide variety of materials in her pieces, she is able to show the human experience of being and dwelling throughout the space.
Associate Provost and Dean of Arts and Humanities, Micah Maatman, says that having artists like Nevitt on campus is a gift for Gustavus students. “Working with an artist and teacher of Jennifer’s caliber is a significant opportunity for our students and community. Her success at MIA is well deserved and provides a lens for our students to see what it is to be a hardworking successful artist,” he says.
Nevitt’s exhibit is on display at the Minneapolis Institute of Art through February 18, with an artist gallery talk at 7 p.m. on January 18.
