Under the direction of Dr. Gregory Aune, the Gustavus Choir embarks on its 2018 Midwest Tour February 2. The 10-day tour features performances at various churches and clinics at high schools across Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, Illinois, and South Dakota.
The program features some of Aune’s favorite works including pieces by renowned composers J.S. Bach, Z. Randall Stroope, Frank Ticheli, F. Melius Christiansen, and Stacey Gibbs. Several of the pieces on this year’s tour program can also be found on the newest CD release from the Gustavus Choir, Legacy.
There will be special receptions following two of the performances on tour for alumni and prospective students. The first follows the performance on February 7 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church (Schaumburg, Ill.) and the second follows the February 11 performance at Shepherd of the Lakes Lutheran Church (Prior Lake, Minn.). The tour culminates at the ensemble’s home concert at 7:30 p.m. on February 17 in Christ Chapel. The home concert will be livestreamed.
