Senior Spotlight: Isabella La Manca Posted on June 6th, 2022 by

Isabella La Marca is a Vocal Music Education from Bloomington, Minnesota. She performed with the Social Justice Choir, the Choir of Christ Chape, the Gustavus Choir, and vocal ensembles. Professor Patricia Snapp says “Izzy has a big heart and cares deeply about her vocal study. I will miss her wonderful energy in her voice lessons and her desire and commitment to being a leader in the music department. I know that Izzy will continue to be a successful performer as well as an engaging and compassionate music educator. I am excited for her future students!”

We asked Izzy about her time at Gustavus and her goals for the future.

What are your plans for the future?
ILM: “I will be student teaching in the fall.

What will you miss most about music at Gustavus?
ILM: “The incredible faculty who have helped me grow more than I thought possible. The environment they create is so special and I’ve been so lucky to be a part of it.”

What’s a favorite memory you have from studying music at Gustavus?
ILM: “The incredible soup party at Dr.Bryant’s house in 2019!”

What do you look forward to most about life after Gustavus?
ILM: “I’m excited to see what role music will take in my non academic life.”

What’s one piece of advice you’d give high school students considering Gustavus?
ILM: “Don’t let Dr.Dean program True Colors again.”

What has been your proudest moment in your time at Gustavus?
ILM: “To be able to create music at such an amazing caliber has been a joy, but being able to share our music has made me so proud!”

What is the most interesting class you’ve taken at Gustavus and why?
ILM: “Instrumentation is hands down my favorite class at GAC – it’s challenging ”
