A second exhibit, What We Carry, developed as a collaborative effort between Visiting Assistant Professor Sarah Hauss (and dancers in the Spring Dance Concert) and Assistant Professor Betsy Byers’ Advanced Painting class, will be featured this weekend in Anderson Theatre lobby, as part of the spring dance concert, Something Like Flight. Advanced painting students, Eydie Kramer, Heather Pallas and David Pedersen created works inspired by the concept and movement behind, Try Another Way, a dance choreographed by Sarah Hauss for the dance concert. Dancers include Ashley Narum, Marlee Lindberg, Rachel Johnson, Erin Simon, Rush Benson, Jane Chung and Katherine Arndt.
The painting students began the process by visiting a rehearsal and having the opportunity to speak directly with Choreographer Hauss. The artists then moved into the studio, developing their own response to the dance through both formal and conceptual means.
The exhibit, What We Carry, located in the Anderson Theater Lobby, will run in conjunction with the Spring Dance Concert, Something Like Flight, March 16-18th. Performances of the dance concert are scheduled in Anderson Theatre on March 16 & 17 at 8:00 p.m. and March 18 at 2:00 p.m. Tickets are available online at gustavustickets.com or by calling the Gustavus Ticket Center 507-933-7590.
