Gustavus Symphony Orchestra to Present Concerto/Aria Concert Saturday

The Gustavus Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Conductor Warren Friesen, will present its spring concert Saturday, May 10, at 7:30 p.m. in Christ Chapel on the Gustavus Adolphus College campus. This concert includes performances by soprano Karly Slivik, 'cellist Jacqueline Johnson and bass trombonist Scott Simpkins, selected by audition to perform in the Department of Music's annual Concerto/Aria Concert.

Gustavus Choir Home Concert Saturday

The Department of Music is pleased to present the Gustavus Choir's Home Concert, Saturday, May 3, at 7:30 p.m. in Christ Chapel. This concert features guest conductor Robert Scholz and concludes the choir's annual concert tour which included concerts throughout the Midwest.

Continuing with the theme set at Christmas in Christ Chapel in December, the Choir of Christ Chapel at Gustavus returns from its annual spring concert tour to present its home concert, Music and Poetry: The Ring of Words, Friday, April 25 in Christ Chapel. With Conductor Patricia Kazarow and Organist Chad Winterfeldt, the Choir will present the concert beginning at 7:30 p.m.

Gustavus Celebrates Weekend With Student Recitals

The Department of Music at Gustavus Adolphus College concludes the month of April with four senior recitals in Jussi Bjorling Recital Hall and Christ Chapel. 'Cellist Christa Saeger, trombonist Glade Sietsema and pianist Matthew Wilberg present their final recitals in the recital hall April 26 and 27 while organist Joshua Pioske plans his senior performance in Christ Chapel.

Gustavus Wind Orchestra Presents Home Concert at Christ Chapel

The Gustavus Wind Orchestra, under the direction of Dr. Douglas Nimmo, will present its annual Home Concert in Christ Chapel on Saturday, April 5 beginning at 3:00 p.m. This pubic performance by the ensemble will feature St. Peter baritione Michael Jorgensen following the wind orchestra's spring concert tour to Florida. Saturday's concert in Christ Chapel is free and open to the public.

Christmas in Christ Chapel to be Broadcast and Streamed

Gustavus Adolphus College annual holiday celebration, Christmas in Christ Chapel, will be broadcast throughout the region and streamed on line during the coming Christmas season. "The Word Becomes Flesh," presented in Christ Chapel to sold-out audiences on November 30, December 1 and 2, will be broadcast by several radio stations in Minnesota and northern Iowa, as well as streamed by KMSU FM 89.7 on Christmas Eve.

Gustavus Wind Orchestras Perform Friday

The Gustavus and Vasa Wind Orchestras will appear in concert, conducted by Douglas Nimmo, Friday, November 16 in Christ Chapel on the Gustavus campus. This joint concert begins at 7:30 p.m. and is free and open to the public.

19th Annual Gustavus Honor Band Scheduled for Monday

The 19th annual Gustavus Honor Band Festival returns to the Gustavus Adolphus College campus Monday, November 5. The Festival Concert, conducted by Douglas Nimmo with the Gustavus Wind Orchestra and over 100 high school musicians from around the state, Iowa, Wisconsin and South Dakota, begins at 7:00 p.m. on Monday in Christ Chapel. The concert is free and open to the public.

Family Weekend Showcase Concert Set for Sunday at Gustavus Adolphus College

The Gustavus Department of Music's annual tradition of showcasing major ensembles continues this Sunday, October 14, with a performance for Family Weekend in Christ Chapel. The concert includes the Gustavus Choir, the Gustavus and Vasa Wind Orchestras, the Gustavus Symphony and Philharmonic Orchestras and the Lucia Singers and begins at 1:30 p.m. in Christ Chapel. The performance is free and open to the public.

Winterfeldt to Present Organ Recital at Christ Chapel

Chad Winterfeldt, Director of Music at First Lutheran Church, St. Peter and Associate Organist at Christ Chapel, will present a faculty organ recital in Christ Chapel on Saturday, September 22. The performance is free and open to the public and begins at 3:30 p.m.
