Gustavus Winds Welcome Interim Conductor James Patrick Miller Sunday

The Gustavus and Vasa Wind Orchestras are pleased to welcome interim conductor James Patrick Miller for a concert in Christ Chapel, Sunday, March 15, beginning at 1:30 p.m. This performance is free and open to the public.

Ying Quartet in Concert at Gustavus Saturday

The Ying Quartet, Eastman School of Music Quartet in Residence, brings its music to Gustavus Adolphus College and the Gustavus Artist Series Saturday, March 14. The quartet's performance, "A Dim Sum Evening," combines traditional western string quartets and contemporary Chinese works in one concert. The performance begins at 8:00 p.m. and tickets will be available at the door.

Flute and Piano’s DuoSolo to Perform at Gustavus

The acclaimed flute/piano duo, DuoSolo will perform at Gustavus Adolphus College on Sunday, March 8, 2009 at 7:00 pm. in Björling Recital Hall. Their program will feature works composed since 1990 by some of today's leading composers, including Forrest Pierce, David Lang, Györgi Ligeti, Ian Clarke, Bruno Mantovani, and Gabriela Frank.

Student Recitals Set for Weekend at Gustavus

The student recital season at Gustavus Adolphus College begins in earnest this weekend with two joint recitals scheduled in Bjorling Recital Hall. Ben Christensen, tenor and Tony Bissen, baritone, join forces for their senior voice recital on Friday, March 6 at 7:30 p.m. The voices of Amy Jahnke, soprano and Kathryn Casey, mezzo soprano will be featured in a junior recital on Sunday, March 8 at 1:30 p.m. Both recitals are free and open to the public.

A Colorful Palette of Dance in Range of Motion, the Spring Dance Concert at Gustavus Adolphus College

The Gustavus Department of Theatre and Dance is pleased to present the 2009 Spring Dance Concert, Range of Motion. The Gustavus Dance Company will perform a diverse assortment of works by Gustavus Faculty members and Guest Artist Charlotte Adams, professor at the University of Iowa. Performances will be held in Anderson Theatre March 13-14 at 8 pm and March 15 at 2 pm.

40 Years and Michael Johnson in Concert

Michael Johnson, the singer, song-writer, storyteller, and guitarist who has delighted audiences at Gustavus Adolphus College annually for forty years, returns to Björling Recital Hall for a 40th Anniversary Concert Celebration, Friday, December 12 at 8:00 p.m. This performance on the Gustavus campus is one of only two performances the national recording artist will present in Minnesota this season.

Fall Jazz Concert at Gustavus Saturday

The jazz ensembles from the Department of Music at Gustavus Adolphus College combine efforts on Saturday, November 22, to present a concert in Bjorling Recital Hall on the Gustavus campus. Under the direction of guest director Adam Rossmiller, the Adolphus Jazz Ensemble and the Gustavus Jazz Lab Band begin this free concert at 7:30 p.m.

Woodwind Chamber Music to be Presented at Gustavus

An afternoon concert of woodwind ensembles is schedule for Sunday, April 27 at 3:30 p.m. on the Gustavus Adolphus College campus. Under the direction of Ann Pesavento, the flute ensemble and the woodwind choir of the Department of Music will present a spring concert in Jussi Bjorling Recital Hall.

Spanish Song Recital Set for Friday

The Departments of Music and Modern Foreign Languages collaborate this Friday, April 18, to present a recital of Spanish Songs in Jussi Bjorling Recital Hall. This recital by soprano Ana Adams (assistant professor of Spanish) and pianist Esther Wang (assistant professor of music) is open to the public and begins at 7:30 p.m.

Gustavus Jazz Lab Band Presents Spring Concert Saturday

The Gustavus Jazz Lab Band, under the direction of Steve Wright, will present a special 6:30 p.m. performance of its annual spring concert in Bjorling Recital Hall on the Gustavus campus, Saturday, April 19. The 6:30 performance by the jazz band is free and open to the public.
