Gustavus Senior Honors Recital Set for Saturday

The Gustavus Department of Music is pleased to present its annual Senior Honors Recital on Saturday, May 2, in Jussi Bjorling Recital Hall. Four seniors, Karly Slivik, Hannah Wunsch, Mark Wamma and Erik Mahon have been selected to participate in the Honors Recital which begins at 1:30 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public.

Pianist Laura Lundorff Senior Recital Sunday

The Department of Music at Gustavus Adolphus College is pleased to present the senior piano recital of Laura Lundorff on Sunday, November 16. Lundorff, a student of Yumiko Oshima-Ryan, will begin her recital in Jussi Björling Recital Hall at 1:30 p.m. It is free and open to the public.

Artaria String Quartet Returns to Gustavus

Minneapolis-based Artaria String Quartet returns to Gustavus Adolphus College on September 28 and reunites with Gustavus pianist Yumiko Oshima-Ryan for a concert including works by Ludwig van Beethoven and Dmitri Shostakovich. Sunday's event begins at 3:00 p.m. with a pre-concert lecture. The concert follows in Bjorling Recital Hall at 3:30 p.m. It is free and open to the public.

John McKay Returns to Open Gustavus Music Season with Piano Recital

Long-time professor of music at Gustavus Adolphus College, John McKay, returns to Jussi Bjorling Recital Hall Saturday, September 20, to present the first recital of the new school year at 7:30 p.m. Included in this performance are works by Haydn, Brahms, Chopin and the world premiere of a new work by Mortimer Barron.

Gustavus Honors Recital Set for Saturday

The Department of Music at Gustavus Adolphus College will present its annual senior Honors Recital on Saturday, May 3, beginning at 1:30 p.m. in Jussi Bjorling Recital Hall. Selected by audition, six seniors will be performing in the recital, Jessica Gehrke, bassoon, Brian Fahey, baritone, Mark Wirbisky, viola, Rachel Braband, clarinet, Christa Saeger, 'cello and Joel Beachey, piano.

Gustavus Celebrates Weekend With Student Recitals

The Department of Music at Gustavus Adolphus College concludes the month of April with four senior recitals in Jussi Bjorling Recital Hall and Christ Chapel. 'Cellist Christa Saeger, trombonist Glade Sietsema and pianist Matthew Wilberg present their final recitals in the recital hall April 26 and 27 while organist Joshua Pioske plans his senior performance in Christ Chapel.

Spanish Song Recital Set for Friday

The Departments of Music and Modern Foreign Languages collaborate this Friday, April 18, to present a recital of Spanish Songs in Jussi Bjorling Recital Hall. This recital by soprano Ana Adams (assistant professor of Spanish) and pianist Esther Wang (assistant professor of music) is open to the public and begins at 7:30 p.m.

A Saturday of Recitals at Gustavus

Three student recitals are scheduled to be presented on the Gustavus Adolphus College campus Saturday, April 12. Senior recitalists Andrew Jensen, percussion (1:30), and Hayden Kane, euphonium (3:30), open the afternoon, followed by vocalists Emily Moran and Tony Spain at 7:30 p.m. The three recitals are open to the public and will be presented in Jussi Bjorling Recital Hall.

The Gustavus Percussion Ensembles Fall Concert is set for Sunday, November 18, beginning at 1:30 p.m. in Jussi Björling Recital Hall on the Gustavus Adolphus College campus. Conducted by Robert Adney and Paul Hill, the concert is free and open to the public.

Student Recitals Fill Weekend with Music at Gustavus

Three student recitals of bassoon, voice and flute, sponsored by the Department of Music at Gustavus Adolphus College, are scheduled for this weekend on the Gustavus Adolphus College campus. The recitals, Jessica Gehrke, bassoon; Hannah Wunsch, voice; and Brittany Krusemark, flute, are free and open to the public.
