Gustavus Theatre/Dance Presents Season Finale of Student Work

The Department of Theatre & Dance at Gustavus Adolphus College is pleased to present a series of performances to conclude the Spring 2008 semester. Under the guiding hands of the faculty, majors and non-majors alike have taken independent strides in creating their own inspired works in theatre and dance. Performances have already begun, so act fast to take advantage of the opportunities that remain.

Gustavus Theatre Presents Festival of Student Work

The Department of Theatre & Dance at Gustavus Adolphus College presents a Festival of Student Work November 15 - 18. A miniature fringe festival in its own right, this collaboration of more than sixty actors, dancers, designers, and technicians, operating on ten different production schedules, will fill Anderson Theatre and the Schaefer Fine Arts Center for four days of artistic celebration.

Gustavus Celebrates Black History Month with New Play by David Barr III

Gustavus Adolphus College and the Gustavus Artist Series commemorate Black History Month with the performance of a new play, Jackie, Vi and Lena, by playwright David Barr on Saturday, February 17 at 7:30 p.m. in Jussi Bjorling Recital Hall. Jackie, Vi and Lena celebrates the lives of three early veterans of the American Civil Rights Movement. Tickets are available by calling 507-933-7590 or at the door.

Gustavus Theatre Anniversary Season Opens Thursday with Stephenson’s An Experiment With An Air Pump

An Experiment With An Air Pump, Shelagh Stevenson's play written as the world prepared to enter the 21st century, opens the 75th anniversary season of theatre at Gustavus, November 9 - 12, in Anderson Theatre. Directed by Rob Gardner, An Experiment With An Air Pump confronts essential, moral questions in the development of understanding of the human race in situations which, although similar, are separated by 200 years.

Gustavus Brings Sophocles’ Electra to the Anderson Theatre Stage

Gustavus Adolphus College Department of Theatre/Dance brings Sophocles' Electra to the Anderson Theatre stage May 11 - 14. Using a new translation by colleague Eric Dugdale, music written by Michael Croswell and choreography by Maria Gomez Tierney, director Rob Gardner brings the classic Greek tragedy to life. Performances are scheduled each evening at 8 p.m., May 11—13 and at 2 p.m., May 14.

Bat Boy, The Musical, opens February 17 at Gustavus

Based on a super-market tabloid premise of the discovery of a "Half-boy, Half-bat", Bat Boy, The Musical comes to Anderson Theatre on the Gustavus Adolphus College campus on February 17. This 2001 pop-rock musical written by Keythe Farley and Brian Flemming, with music and lyrics by Laurence O'Keefe, is directed by Amy Seham and runs February 17 - 26 in Anderson Theatre on the Gustavus Adolphus College campus.

New Play at Gustavus Commissioned to Explore Einstein and Time

Award-winning playwright Janet Allard's newest play, Clockworks: Einstein Time, commissioned by Gustavus Adolphus College, premieres in Anderson Theatre on the Gustavus campus, Tuesday, September 27, as part of the 2005 Nobel Conference, The Legacy of Einstein. Other performances are scheduled September 29 through October 2.
