Christmas in Christ Chapel to be Broadcast and Streamed

Gustavus Adolphus College annual holiday celebration, Christmas in Christ Chapel, will be broadcast throughout the region and streamed on line during the coming Christmas season. "The Word Becomes Flesh," presented in Christ Chapel to sold-out audiences on November 30, December 1 and 2, will be broadcast by several radio stations in Minnesota and northern Iowa, as well as streamed by KMSU FM 89.7 on Christmas Eve.

Johnson’s 40-Year Tradition Continues

Michael Johnson, the singer, song-writer, storyteller, and guitarist who has performed to sold-out audiences at Gustavus Adolphus College annually for nearly forty years, returns to Björling Recital Hall once again. The holiday season tradition continues on Friday, December 14 at 8:00 p.m. and is one of only two performances Michael will present in Minnesota this season.

Despite Snow, 35th Annual Christmas in Christ Chapel Set for Weekend

Despite forecasts of heavy snow during the weekend in parts of Southern Minnesota, Christmas in Christ Chapel at Gustavus Adolphus College remains on as scheduled. Ticket holders are asked to take the appropriate steps and allow for extra driving time if necessary.

Gustavus Percussionists in Concert Sunday

The Gustavus Percussion Ensembles Fall Concert is set for Sunday, November 18, beginning at 1:30 p.m. in Jussi Björling Recital Hall on the Gustavus Adolphus College campus. Conducted by Robert Adney and Paul Hill, the concert is free and open to the public.

Gustavus Jazz in Concert Saturday

The Gustavus Jazz Lab Band and the Adolphus Jazz Ensemble, under the direction of Steve Wright, will present their fall concert, Saturday, November 17, beginning at 7:30 p.m. in Jussi Björling Recital Hall. This is the first performance by the jazz lab band on the campus following the release of their newest cd, Taking Off, earlier this fall. This performance is free and open to the public.

Gustavus Wind Orchestras Perform Friday

The Gustavus and Vasa Wind Orchestras will appear in concert, conducted by Douglas Nimmo, Friday, November 16 in Christ Chapel on the Gustavus campus. This joint concert begins at 7:30 p.m. and is free and open to the public.

Student Recitals Fill Weekend with Music at Gustavus

Three student recitals of bassoon, voice and flute, sponsored by the Department of Music at Gustavus Adolphus College, are scheduled for this weekend on the Gustavus Adolphus College campus. The recitals, Jessica Gehrke, bassoon; Hannah Wunsch, voice; and Brittany Krusemark, flute, are free and open to the public.

Gustavus Theatre Presents Festival of Student Work

The Department of Theatre & Dance at Gustavus Adolphus College presents a Festival of Student Work November 15 - 18. A miniature fringe festival in its own right, this collaboration of more than sixty actors, dancers, designers, and technicians, operating on ten different production schedules, will fill Anderson Theatre and the Schaefer Fine Arts Center for four days of artistic celebration.

Woodwind Ensembles to Perform at Gustavus

Sunday, November 11, brings four woodwind ensembles to the Jussi Bjorling Recital Hall stage on the Gustavus Adolphus College campus. The Gustavus Chamber Players, Woodwind Choir, Flute Trio and Saxophone Quartet join forces to present this concert of music for woodwind ensembles at 3:30 p.m. This performance is directed by Ann Pesavento and John Samuel Roper. It is free and open to the public.

Gustavus to Present Faculty Voice Recital

The Department of Music at Gustavus Adolphus College will present a recital performed by members of the department's voice faculty on Sunday, November 11. Seven members of the department, including Michael Jorgensen, Patricia Snapp, Timothy O'Brien, Christina Smith, Nick Wayne, Rebecca McConnaughey and Erin Damburger, will join with pianists Yumko Oshima-Ryan, Esther Wang and Bonnie Jorgensen in this performance. Sunday's recital begins at 1:30 p.m. in Jussi Björling Recital Hall.
