Mankato Violinist Mark Wamma to Present Junior Recital at Gustavus Posted on February 26th, 2008 by

Mankato area violinist Mark Wamma will present his junior recital on Sunday, March 2, beginning at 3:30 p.m. in Gustavus Adolphus College’s Jussi Bjorling Recital Hall. Accompanied by pianist Beth Winterfeldt, Mr. Wamma will present works by Barber and Beethoven. The recital is free and open to the public.

Mark Wamma is a 2005 Mankato East High School graduate and the son of Mary Wagner and Metone Wamma of Mankato. He recently returned with the Gustavus Symphony Orchestra and conductor Warren Friesen from a two-week concert tour of the People’s Republic of China. Wamma served as concertmaster of the orchestra on this tour. He is a Jussi Bjorling Music Scholarship winner and a member of the Symphony and the Gustavus Philharmonic Orchestras. He studies violin with Brian Buckstead.

For this performance, Mr. Wamma will open with Samuel Barber’s three-movement Concerto for Violin and Orchestra and conclude with Ludwig van Beethoven’s Violin Sonata No. 8. For both works, he will be accompanied by pianist Beth Winterfeldt.

Sunday’s student violin recital by Mark Wamma is free and open to the public. A reception follows the performance.
