Gustavus Features Faculty Trio Recital Friday Posted on March 3rd, 2008 by

Gustavus Adolphus College faculty members Yumiko Oshima-Ryan, piano, Brian Buckstead, violin and guest ‘cellist Joseph Rodgers will be in concert at Jussi Bjorling Recital Hall, Friday, March 7, beginning at 7:30 p.m. Works by Beethoven, Ravel and Shostakovich will be presented in this performance which is free and open to the public.

Violinist Brian Buckstead, in his first year on the Department of Music faculty, and Gustavus pianist Yumiko Oshima-Ryan, open Friday’s performance with Beethoven’s Sonata No. 5 for Piano and Violin “Spring.” Guest ‘cellist Joseph Rodgers then joins the duo to present Dmitri Shostakovich’s Piano Trio No. 2 in E minor. The recital concludes with the trio Tzigane, rapsodie de concert by Maurice Ravel.

Friday’s performance is free and open to the public. It begins at 7:30 p.m. in Bjorling Recital Hall.
