Gustavus Symphony in Concert Sunday

The Gustavus Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Warren Friesen, will present a concert of works by American composers Samuel Barber, Victor Herbert and the team of Randy Edelman and Trevor Jones on Sunday, November 9, beginning at 1:30 p.m. in Christ Chapel on the Gustavus Adolphus College campus. They will be joined by ‘cellist Joseph Rodgers.

The concert will open with Samuel Barber’s Second Essay, Op. 17 and be joined by ‘cellist Joseph Rodgers for the Cello Concerto No. 2, Op. 30 by Victor Herbert. The program concludes with Edelman and Jones’ five movement Suite from the 1992 movie adaptation of James Fenimore Cooper’s The Last of the Mohicans.

Sunday’s concert by the Gustavus Symphony Orchestra in Christ Chapel begins at 1:30 p.m. It is free and open to the public.
