Gustavus Department of Music Presents Music Showcase at Orchestra Hall

The three international touring ensembles at Gustavus Adolphus College will present the 2008 Gustavus Music Showcase at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 9 at Orchestra Hall in Minneapolis. Performances by the Gustavus Symphony Orchestra and conductor Warren Friesen, the Gustavus Wind Orchestra and conductor Douglas Nimmo and the Gustavus Choir with guest conductor Robert Scholz will feature works from a recent tour to China by the Symphony and spring concert tours by the Wind Orchestra and Choir.

Christmas in Christ Chapel to be Broadcast and Streamed

Gustavus Adolphus College annual holiday celebration, Christmas in Christ Chapel, will be broadcast throughout the region and streamed on line during the coming Christmas season. "The Word Becomes Flesh," presented in Christ Chapel to sold-out audiences on November 30, December 1 and 2, will be broadcast by several radio stations in Minnesota and northern Iowa, as well as streamed by KMSU FM 89.7 on Christmas Eve.

KSTP Anchor John Mason to Narrate Nobel Concert Tuesday

John Mason, Anchor, KSTP-TV, will narrate the 2007 Nobel Conference Concert, Tuesday, October 2, beginning at 8:00 p.m. in Christ Chapel. The concert, matching the energy theme of the annual Nobel Conference, will feature a 1956 industrial cartoon titled "Energetically Yours" and funded by Standard Oil Company of New Jersey. Mason will narrate the film with music provided by the Gustavus Symphony Orchestra and conductor Warren Friesen. The Gustavus Choir and two quartets will also participate.
