Alex Zupan, senior honors mathematics and honors music major, will present his senior piano recital on Sunday, May 6, beginning at 3:30 p.m. in Jussi Björling Recital Hall on the Gustauvs Adolphus College campus. Following a program which includes works by Bach, Beethoven, Chopin and Ravel, a reception will be held in Mr. Zupan’s honor in the recital hall lobby. The recital is free and open to the public.

Zupan, a double major in honors mathematics and honors music from Monona, Wisconsin, has enjoyed a varied and successful college career at Gustavus. In addition to his work in the classroom and on the stage, Alex has also been named to the USA Today All-Academic Third Team for his work as a cross country runner. In addition to his senior recital this weekend, Alex has been selected to perform on the program celebrating the naming of Gustavus as an “All Steinway School” on May 4 and in the 2007 Senior Honors Recital on May 5 (all three performances on the same weekend.) Following his graduation from Gustavus, Alex will begin graduate school in mathematics at the University of Iowa.

Alex opens this recital with Bach’s French Suite V in G Major, followed by the “Fantasia” sonata by Beethoven, Sonata in C-sharp Minor, Op. 27, No. 2. He continues with two works by Frederic Chopin and concludes the performance with Maurice Ravel’s Jeux d’Eau.
